Promoting safety for horses & riders on UK roads
News
Proposed changes to the
Highway Code
Proposed changes to the Highway Code will come
into effect at the end of January 2022. These
changes will give more clarity to other road users on
how to safely pass a horse and rider, also more
guidance on the best way to do this safely.
Major changes will include a maximum speed limit
to pass horses drop to 10mph, never passing a
horse on the inside and clarification to the hierarchy
of road users.

Safety signs go up across the UK
More signs have been spotted across the UK after
being placed by local councils. This one was spotted
in Nottinghamshire by HRSA member Melanie.
Vulnerable road users working
together
HRSA have teamed up with Trail Riders Fellowships
(TRF) to create a leisure series of videos showing the
parallels horse riders and trail riders have in
common.
The videos also aim to educate both parties on how
to act around each other so ensure everyone is able
to enjoy the countryside at their and be safe doing
it. Watch Wendy (HRSA) and Shaun (TRF) here:
